Getting to know each other and our classroom on our first day!
As part of our topic Nice to Meet You, we have been creating self-portraits to share with our new friends.
By Week 3 we have got to know each other and our classroom a little better. We are all giving new activities a try...
and deciding what we like and what we don't like.
We are becoming proud of our achievements...
can talk about what we are doing...
and share our experiences with each other!
Getting to know our St Minver School traditions... Harvest Breakfast!
Giving thanks for how lucky we all are ... for so many things!
Sharing a special meal together.
Fruit and Veg Faces... developing our self-portrait skills through a design and create process.
Do they look like us?!
Getting stuck straight back in on our first day back after half term and learning about primary colours.
We have been looking at the work of Mondrian.
Art in the style of Mondrian the Class R way!
We have further investigated Mondrian's artwork by creating our own borders to fill.
We made squares and rectangles linking to our maths work.
And then we used primary colours making sure we kept within the lines.
This week we have used white tape to create our borders.
We then used the side of the crayon to colour our squares and rectangles. Peeling off the tape to reveal the borders was the best bit!
We have also been writing 'Happy Diwali' cards...
...found lots of ways of making 5 using a five-frame ...
...built the Taj Mahal...
...created Diva Lamps...
...and celebrated our differences and our kindness!
Using our previous work on Mondrian and making links to how Indian elephants are special and often decorated.
Using primary colours and 4-sided shapes to fill the space.
Talking about borders, filling the space...
... and working together!
Using our learning from Mondrian to inspire our Christmas gifts this year ...
... starting to look fab!
We wrote Christmas cards this week and wanted to send them to our families so off to the post box we go!
We took pictures on our way.
The post box is actually quite high up!
This week we thought about our trip to the post-box and worked together to create a map of our journey.
We built a model of the school...
... and added pictures and photos of what we saw!
