Finding out about Materials and their Properties

Class 2 have really been enjoying our Science topic this term. We have been doing lots of hands-on investigative work, finding out about the different materials that things are made from and their properties.
We had fun finding out which items could be bent, squashed, twisted or stretched - and discovering which ones could go back to their original shape and which could not.

We also thought about how different properties made materials suitable for different uses: a window that wasn't transparent or a towel that wasn't absorbent, wouldn't be much good!
Throughout this topic we have been learning lots of new vocabulary too - 'transparent' and 'absorbent' are just two examples, we also talked about what opaque, flexible, rigid and translucent meant - I wonder which new words we can all remember!
