This week in English we have been learning all about riddles.

This week in maths we have been learning all about money!
We are able to recognise different coins and notes and know that one pound is the same as 100p.
We have been learning to make different amounts using coins.
We thought about the best way to make an amount using the least amount of coins.
We enjoyed finding different ways to make the same amount. How many different ways can you make 20p using the coins 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p and 20p?
We wrote some great riddles about the different animals that live in the rainforest and enjoyed sharing them with our friends.
We enjoyed solving the different rainforest riddles that our friends wrote. We had to listen carefully to the clues.
We had a great afternoon with Mr Turnham learning how to make a fire so that we could boil some water to make hot chocolate.
We enjoyed trying to the light the fire using flint and steel. It was much trickier than it looked.
We can't wait to make our hot chocolate.

This week we have been learning about the French artist Henri Rousseau.
Henri Rousseau is best known for his jungle scenes, such as Tiger in a Tropical Storm (Surprised!)
We have been learning how to draw a toucan from the rainforest and practised on our whiteboards.
We were really happy with our end result.
Next week we will use pastels to create our own toucans.
This week we have made a start on our pastel toucans!
First we practised blending different colours together.
We thought about which colours worked well together and practised different parts of the toucan.
Then we began adding colour to our pencil drawing of our toucan.

We have enjoyed learning about living things and their habitat.
We have been sorting different pictures into things that are living, things that were once living and now dead and things that are not living.
We enjoyed visiting the science garden to search for living things.
We found lots of microhabitats in the science garden and took photos of the living things we found there.
We saw lots of frogs in the pond. We also spotted a toad and a newt. There was also lots of frog spawn.
We enjoyed using the book creator app on the iPads to record the microhabitats and living things in our science garden.
We enjoyed visiting our lovely school library this afternoon.
We enjoyed choosing a new library book to take home.
We had a great time visiting Newquay Zoo today.
We enjoyed looking at the penguins. They can swim very fast.
We certainly enjoyed our stop for lunch.
We were very hungry after exploring the zoo.
We had lots of fun at the park before it was time to get on the coach and head back to school.
We have enjoyed using the Scratch Jnr app on the iPads to create an animation linked to our science work on habitats.
We enjoyed exploring the program and discovering new things.
We enjoyed sharing our favourite book with the children in Cowrie Class to celebrate world book day.

We were intrigued to take a closer look at the noni plant but didn't like the smell.
The noni plant is also known as the vomit fruit because of its unpleasant smell.
We were surprised to find geckos living in the Rainforest Biome.
We enjoyed building a shelter for Barbie and Ken when we returned back to our room.
We enjoyed our tasty lunch before it was time to head back to the coach. What a brilliant day we had!
We enjoyed dressing up in red to raise money for Red Nose Day.
We enjoyed a food tasting afternoon.
We sampled different combinations of food to help up design a healthy wrap for an explorer.

We enjoyed using mirrors to help us find lines of symmetry.
Well done to all the children who took part in our KS1 Easter Bonnet parade today. Your Easter bonnets looked amazing!
We had a busy day making our healthy wraps. We followed our design carefully.
We carefully chopped up the ingredients we wanted to add to our wrap.
We enjoyed sampling our healthy wraps. They were delicious!
We carried out an evaluation of our healthy wrap and thought about any changes we would make to improve it.
